I love it when I come across a band who create music that touches the soul without seeming forced. This is beautiful melodic metal with deep vocals from a band attempting to stay label-free as long as possible. What better reasons could one have for supporting?
It's tremendously difficult to breathe in the thick and gloomy atmosphere NONE creates in this release. It's adorned with riffs so delicious, yet so devastating. The tracks are repetitive, yet never once do they get mundane. Definitely worth the listen if you are into slower-paced DSBM, this is truly a masterpiece. ethan_t
This style of black metal often misses the mark with me, but Sojourner pulls it off very well. Empires of Ash contains heaviness and beauty, while not overdoing the elements of epic black metal that can come across as cheesy in other releases. The female vocals are a nice touch. Metallurgical Fire
